154 Bag First-Class Honors as Sule Lamido University Holds Combined Convocation

Sule Lamido University (SLU) in Kafin Hausa, Jigawa State, is set to confer First Class degrees on 154 students during its upcoming 2nd Combined Convocation Ceremony.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yakasai announced this milestone during a pre-convocation press briefing held at the university’s Senate Building.
The ceremony will celebrate the graduation of 4,109 students across six academic sessions. In addition to the First Class recipients, the graduating class includes 1,326 students with Second Class Upper, 1,954 with Second Class Lower, 649 with Third Class, and 26 with Pass degrees.
The Vice-Chancellor highlighted significant institutional progress, including the launch of postgraduate studies and the expansion of the School of Preliminary and Continuing Education.
He also revealed ambitious plans to establish a College of Medicine to help produce more skilled medical professionals for the healthcare sector.
Extensive infrastructure developments have transformed the campus, with new academic buildings, modern hostels, research centers, and a well-equipped library. The university has also integrated ICT improvements and solar energy solutions to boost campus efficiency and provide a better learning environment.
Regarding student and staff welfare, Professor Yakasai noted that the university has prioritized subsidized transportation, accommodation, and safety initiatives.
He also acknowledged the impact of twelve NELFUND disbursements that have provided financial support to the student body.
While thanking the Jigawa State Government and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for their continued support, the Vice-Chancellor appealed for further assistance. He emphasized the need for more staff and improved accommodation to sustain the university’s high standards of teaching and research.
