Sanwo-Olu’s Transport Adviser Resigns to Pursue Reps Seat

The Special Adviser on Transportation to Lagos State Governor, Sola Giwa, has resigned from his position to pursue a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Giwa’s resignation was confirmed on Wednesday, as he declared his intention to contest for the Lagos Island Federal Constituency II seat. He said the decision followed extensive consultations with political stakeholders, supporters, and constituents.

In a statement announcing his exit, Giwa expressed appreciation to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the opportunity to serve in his administration. He noted that his tenure as transport adviser allowed him to contribute meaningfully to the development and reform of the state’s transportation system.

He added that his decision to seek elective office was driven by a desire to deepen his service to the people through legislative representation, promising to focus on policies that would enhance infrastructure, mobility, and economic growth within his constituency.

Giwa, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, is expected to contest under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

His resignation is part of a growing trend of political appointees stepping down from government positions to pursue elective offices ahead of the 2027 elections. Analysts say such moves reflect increasing political realignments and early preparations by aspirants seeking to secure party nominations.
