ADP Candidate Says INEC Result Places Her Fourth in Osun Governorship Poll

The Action Democratic Party candidate in the Osun State governorship election, Yemisi Opawoye, has disputed media reports that she finished sixth in the poll. She said the official result sheet showed that she placed fourth.

In a statement released in Osogbo on Saturday, Opawoye stated that she received 2,946 votes according to the INEC Form EC8E – Declaration of Result. She attached a copy of the form signed by the State Returning Officer, Prof Joshua Ogunwole.

The candidate said the clarification became necessary after some media reports incorrectly ranked her sixth among the 15 governorship candidates. She insisted that the official ranking, based on the votes declared by INEC, placed her fourth.

According to the figures she cited, the top positions were Accord with 511,067 votes, APC with 444,815 votes, ADC with 17,180 votes, and ADP with 2,946 votes. The Zenith Labour Party followed with 2,482 votes, while AA scored 2,308 votes.

Opawoye appealed to journalists, political stakeholders and the public to rely on the official INEC EC8E form when reporting the final ranking of candidates. She said the clarification was only meant to ensure that the public record reflected the actual votes declared by the electoral commission.
