Bandits Kill 6, Injure Several in Midnight Attack on Bauchi Community
Suspected bandits have killed at least six people and injured several others during a midnight raid on Sabon Garin Pali, a community in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The attack, which occurred late at night, threw residents into panic as heavily armed assailants reportedly stormed the village, firing gunshots and moving from house to house. Eyewitnesses said the attackers operated for hours, taking advantage of the cover of darkness to unleash violence on unsuspecting residents.
Sources within the community disclosed that the gunmen not only killed six people but also injured several others, some of whom are currently receiving treatment. The attackers were also said to have looted homes, carting away valuables and cash while terrorising villagers.
Residents lamented the absence of security operatives during the incident, noting that no immediate intervention came despite the prolonged nature of the attack. The development has heightened fears among locals, many of whom say they now live in constant anxiety over recurring bandit assaults.
The victims were buried according to Islamic rites shortly after the incident, as grief-stricken families and neighbours mourned their loss. Efforts to reach the Nigeria Police Force in Bauchi State for official confirmation were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
The latest attack underscores the persistent security challenges facing rural communities across northern Nigeria, where banditry, kidnappings, and violent raids continue to threaten lives and livelihoods despite ongoing security operations.
