We’ve not Postponed UTME Exam, Clarifies JAMB, Says it Holds as Scheduled
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has refuted claims circulating on social media suggesting that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been postponed, insisting that the examination will proceed as earlier scheduled.
In an official statement released on Saturday, the board described the purported notice as false and misleading, urging candidates and the general public to disregard the information. JAMB clarified that it had not issued any directive announcing a shift in the examination date.
The board reaffirmed that all preparations for the nationwide examination remain intact, noting that the UTME is scheduled to hold between April 16 and April 25, 2026, without any changes. The denial follows the widespread circulation of a fake press release that created confusion among candidates preparing for the examination.
JAMB warned that such misinformation is often spread by fraudulent individuals seeking to exploit unsuspecting candidates. It further cautioned candidates against engaging with unauthorized persons or platforms promising assistance with examination processes, stressing that involvement in any form of malpractice could lead to disqualification or cancellation of results.
JAMB also assured stakeholders of its commitment to ensuring a credible and seamless examination process across accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide.
The board advised candidates to rely strictly on its official communication channels for accurate updates and information regarding the UTME.
