Delta APC Announces Immediate Expulsion of Senator Omo-Agege

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the expulsion of former Deputy Senate President, Augustine Ovie Omo-Agege, from the party with immediate effect over alleged anti-party activities and misconduct.

The decision was reached by the State Executive Committee (SEC) of the party during a meeting held on March 31, 2023, at the party’s secretariat in Asaba, Asaba.

The resolution followed what the committee described as due consideration of an earlier notice of expulsion issued at the ward and local government levels.

According to the resolution document, the expulsion stemmed from a prior decision by the executive committee of Orogun Ward and the Ughelli North Local Government Chapter dated March 20, 2023. The SEC stated that its action was in line with provisions of Articles 21.2 (i)(ii)(vii), 21.3, and 21.5(g) of the party’s 2022 constitution, as amended.

The committee said it unanimously resolved to adopt and ratify the expulsion of Omo-Agege as a member of the party after reviewing the allegations and recommendations presented before it.

“Consequently, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege hereby stands expelled as a member of the party with immediate effect,” the statement read.

The party accused the former lawmaker of engaging in acts of anti-party activities and gross misconduct, which it said brought “shame and ridicule” to the image of the party in the state, particularly in relation to the recently concluded elections.

The document was endorsed by members of the State Executive Committee, with signatures appended on behalf of the leadership of the party in Delta State, indicating collective approval of the decision.

While the party did not provide specific details of the alleged offences in the resolution, it maintained that the actions attributed to Omo-Agege negatively affected the party’s performance and reputation during the electoral period.

Omo-Agege, who hails from Delta State and previously served as Deputy President of the Senate, has yet to publicly respond to the expulsion as of the time of filing this report.
