Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully apprehended two high-profile Boko Haram collaborators in the Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.
The arrest was made following a targeted operation aimed at disrupting the logistics and communication networks of the terrorist group.
The suspects, identified as Dattiwa Ali and Jidda Abdullahi, were captured at Miringa Market at approximately 5:00 pm on March 15. The operation was launched after security forces received credible intelligence regarding their activities in the region.
The mission was carried out by the 231 Tank Battalion in a joint effort with local hunters. This collaboration highlights the ongoing integration of military personnel and local volunteer groups to enhance intelligence gathering and tactical efficiency.
According to security sources, the arrested individuals were reportedly coordinating a sleeper cell for the insurgents. They were also accused of storing arms and ammunition intended for use by terrorist groups in their various operations.
During the arrest, several items were recovered from the suspects, including two mobile phones, two wristwatches, and a RAM module. These items are being analyzed for potential digital evidence that could lead to further arrests.
The suspects and the recovered evidence are currently in military custody. Authorities have stated that they are undergoing further investigation to uncover more details about their network and planned attacks in the Lake Chad region.
This success follows a similar operation on March 19, where troops also apprehended two suspected ISWAP informants in the Kaga Local Government Area. These back-to-back arrests represent a significant blow to the intelligence capabilities of the insurgents in Borno State.
