On March 21, 2026, Operation Hadin Kai troops arrested a suspected ISWAP member in Borno.

The operation targeted the Damboa Local Government Area to bolster regional security.

The 25 Brigade and the Civilian Joint Task Force carried out the arrest. Security expert Zagazola Makama confirmed the successful coordination between the military and local volunteers.

The suspect was apprehended at 6:30 p.m. on March 18. This followed intelligence regarding a suspicious phone conversation between the individual and another suspected terrorist.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of the Islamic State West Africa Province. However, he claimed to have disengaged from active combat operations.

Authorities seized the suspect’s mobile phone for forensic analysis. Both the individual and the device remain in custody to uncover deeper links to the network.

This mission highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations in the Northeast. By monitoring communications, security forces continue to neutralize hidden threats within local communities.

Military officials reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling terrorist cells across the region. They vowed to maintain high vigilance to ensure the continued safety of Damboa residents.
