Shettima Vows Tough Response as Suicide Attacks Rock Maiduguri

By Rachel Akper

Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has vowed that those responsible for the recent attacks in Maiduguri will be decisively confronted, assuring residents that the Federal Government will not relent in its fight against terrorism.

Shettima made the declaration on Wednesday during a visit to Borno State, following a wave of violent incidents that left several people dead and others injured in the state capital.

Speaking during the visit, the Vice President condemned the attacks, describing them as senseless acts of violence against innocent civilians. He emphasized that the government is intensifying efforts to restore lasting peace in the North-East region.

He further assured victims and affected communities that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to strengthening security operations and providing necessary support to those impacted by the attacks.

According to him, security agencies have been placed on high alert, with renewed directives to track down and eliminate those behind the violence. He added that the government is reviewing its security strategy to ensure such incidents are prevented in the future.

Shettima also expressed sympathy to families of the victims, pledging continued humanitarian assistance and reconstruction efforts in affected areas.

The latest attacks have raised fresh concerns about security in the North-East, a region that has battled insurgency for over a decade. Authorities say investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible.

The Federal Government has reiterated its resolve to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of all citizens.
