Soludo Appoints Umeakuewulu CMD Of Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital

The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has approved the appointment of Dr. Maureen Umeakuewulu as the new Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku.
The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, who said the decision takes immediate effect.
According to the statement, the appointment is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve the management of public health institutions across the state.
Aburime noted that Governor Soludo expressed confidence in Dr. Umeakuewulu’s experience, leadership capacity and commitment to the medical profession, adding that she is well-positioned to lead the hospital into a new phase of growth and improved service delivery.
He said the governor expects the new CMD to consolidate ongoing reforms in the health sector and enhance clinical services, medical education and research at the teaching hospital.
The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, located in Amaku, Awka, is one of the major tertiary health institutions in the state and serves as a referral centre for patients within and beyond Anambra State.
The hospital also provides clinical training for students of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and other health professionals.
Dr. Umeakuewulu is expected to oversee the hospital’s administration, strengthen healthcare services, and promote efficiency in the delivery of medical care in line with the Soludo administration’s health sector development agenda.
Her appointment takes effect immediately.
