Tinubu Approves New Military Hardware as Security Chiefs Adjust Counter-Terrorism Strategies

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

President Bola Tinubu has approved new military hardware and logistics to bolster the fight against insurgency.

This decision followed a high-level security briefing at the State House addressing recent attacks in the North-East.

The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, stated that security chiefs have adjusted their strategies to counter evolving terrorist tactics.

These renewed operations involve better coordination between the military and intelligence agencies to reclaim territory.

During the meeting, officials clarified that the military has recently eliminated several high-ranking insurgent commanders.

Despite some public misconceptions, the Minister noted that terrorists are currently suffering significantly heavier casualties.

General Musa acknowledged the regrettable loss of courageous soldiers who died defending the nation.

He emphasized that their sacrifices further motivate the government to provide the military with every tool necessary for victory.

The briefing also addressed an escalation in violence during Ramadan, attributed to extremists seeking perceived religious rewards through suicide missions.

In response, security forces have adapted their field tactics to neutralize these specific seasonal threats.

The Minister urged Nigerians to remain confident in the country’s security institutions despite recent challenges. He reaffirmed that with the new equipment and adjusted strategies, the military remains on track to secure the nation.
