Senator Emmanuel Anosike, a former member of the National Assembly, has emerged as the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State.Â
His selection followed a consensus agreement reached by party stakeholders and delegates during a state congress held on Monday in Awka.
The congress was monitored by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and a national delegation from the APC headquarters. Alongside Anosike, other members of the State Working Committee were elected to replace the outgoing executive team led by Chief Basil Ejidike.
In his acceptance speech, Anosike thanked party members for their confidence and pledged to run an inclusive administration. He emphasized his commitment to reconciling aggrieved members and strengthening party structures across all 326 wards in the state.
Anosike stated that his primary objective is to reposition the APC as the dominant political force in Anambra ahead of the 2025 governorship election. He urged members to remain united in their goal to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Prominent party figures, including former senators and governorship aspirants, praised the peaceful conduct of the exercise. They noted that the unanimous choice of Anosike reflects a newfound maturity and stability within the state’s political chapter.
The national delegation described the consensus process as “exemplary” and suggested it as a blueprint for other states. They encouraged the new leadership to immediately begin mobilizing and expanding the party’s membership base across the South-East region.
The event concluded with the formal inauguration of the new executives, who are expected to begin work immediately. The transition was celebrated by supporters, signaling high expectations for the party’s performance in the state’s upcoming political contests.
