US Secret Service agents shot and killed an armed intruder at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate early Sunday morning.
The breach occurred around 1:30 am when the man illegally entered the secure perimeter of the Florida resort.
The suspect, a man in his early 20s, was spotted near the north gate carrying a shotgun and a fuel can. Agents, alongside the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, confronted the individual and opened fire after he was identified as a threat.
President Trump was not on the property at the time, as he was in Washington. No law enforcement officers were injured during the encounter, and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
This event follows several recent assassination plots against Trump. Just earlier this month, Ryan Routh received a life sentence for a 2024 plot to attack the President at a Florida golf course.
Security remains heightened following the July 2024 assassination attempt in Pennsylvania. In that incident, a gunman grazed Trump’s ear and killed a rallygoer before being neutralized by security forces.
Authorities have cordoned off the Mar-a-Lago area to investigate the intruder’s background and motives. This latest breach underscores the persistent security challenges surrounding the high-profile estate and the President.
