Chief Clement Okechukwu, an Anambra indigene, was elected Welfare Officer for Bolari East Ward during the APC congresses in Gombe. His victory is being celebrated as a major win for national integration and political inclusion.

The election took place across 114 wards, highlighting the APC’s efforts to engage all residents regardless of their ethnic background. Stakeholders noted that this move strengthens the party’s diversity and grassroots appeal.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya praised the peaceful conduct of the congresses. He stated that electing a non-indigene reflects Gombe’s hospitable nature and the state’s firm commitment to national unity.

Chief Okechukwu, a long-term Gombe resident, thanked party members for their trust. He pledged to work hard to justify his position and prioritize the welfare of all members in his ward.

Party leaders described the event as a positive shift in local politics. They emphasized that such inclusive practices are essential for building a stronger, more united party base in the state.

The exercise recorded high turnout and remained peaceful throughout the state. This successful ward congress sets a solid foundation for the upcoming local government and state-level party elections.
