UK, Germany Reaffirm Support for Nigeria’s Counter-Terrorism War

The UK and German Defence Attachés, Brigadier Tom Harper and Colonel Boris Bovecamp, have reaffirmed their support for Nigeria’s counter-insurgency efforts during a historic visit to Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) headquarters in Maiduguri.
Brigadier General Tom Harper emphasized the UK-Nigeria relationship based on mutual respect and democracy. He praised the Nigerian military’s efforts and committed to continued training through the British Military Advisory Team (BMATT).
Colonel Boris Bovecamp stated that Germany aims to explore future collaborations in capacity building and regional cooperation. This partnership is designed to enhance operational effectiveness and successfully defeat terrorism in the region.
Theatre Commander Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar lauded the attachés’ significant contributions. He noted that international training has already improved troop proficiency in responding to the region’s evolving security challenges.
Future collaboration will focus on technical expertise, equipment, and logistics support. The visit concluded with a gift exchange and a group photograph, symbolizing a unified front against global terrorism.
