The EFCC’s Kano office has summoned senior officials of Jigawa Savings and Loans Bank.Â
The probe targets alleged financial misconduct and administrative lapses within the state-owned institution.
Managing Director Babandi Isa Gumel and his team appeared for questioning on Wednesday. They were asked to clarify specific financial transactions currently under investigation by the anti-graft agency.
Investigators demanded the bank’s account records dating back to January 2024. Despite the start of Ramadan, the management team spent several hours being grilled by the commission.
Some staff were released after giving statements, while others were reportedly held. The EFCC has kept the specific details of the petition and the amounts involved confidential.
The Managing Director was told to return for a joint session with the Board Chairman. The agency insisted on questioning both leaders together to address governance concerns.
The investigation follows a ₦1 billion capital boost from the Jigawa State Government. That funding was meant to stabilize the bank and meet regulatory requirements.
No official statement has been released by the EFCC or the bank yet. However, the probe has sparked public concern over the institution’s financial integrity.
