Trump Rebukes Putin Over Kyiv Attack: “Vladimir, STOP!”

President Donald Trump of the United States has condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin following a devastating missile and drone assault on Kyiv that left at least 12 civilians dead and nearly 90 injured.

The strike, described as the most intense this year, comes amid fragile and ongoing peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

Taking to his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Vladimir, STOP! This is not necessary. This attack only undermines the progress we’ve made in the peace talks.”

The U.S. president, who has faced criticism for his perceived leniency towards the Kremlin, emphasized that Russia had already made “major concessions” in recent discussions, hinting at a possible deal in sight. He confirmed that American diplomats are actively engaged in high-level negotiations with both Moscow and Kyiv, with hopes of securing a peace agreement within the first 100 days of his administration.

Trump’s rebuke marks a shift in tone, particularly after he appeared more critical of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier in the week.

This has sparked backlash from Ukrainian officials and citizens, who fear Trump’s approach may embolden Moscow while leaving Kyiv vulnerable.

Despite the harsh rhetoric, Trump reiterated his belief that a deal is still possible. However, tensions remain high as the Kremlin has continued to insist on conditions that include Ukrainian demilitarization terms that Kyiv flatly rejects.

Ukraine has stated it will not return to the negotiating table without a full ceasefire.

As diplomatic teams prepare for another round of talks, including a potential U.S. envoy visit to Moscow, the world watches closely. Whether Trump’s public call to “STOP” will influence Putin’s next move remains uncertain, but the rising civilian toll underscores the urgent need for resolution.
