Wike Warns Governors Backing Fubara: You’ll Reap What You Sow

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned Nigerian political leaders, particularly second-term governors and federal lawmakers, cautioning that those supporting what he described as political betrayal would eventually face similar consequences.

Wike spoke in Port Harcourt during the commissioning of the Rivers State chapter headquarters of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, where he addressed ongoing political tensions linked to his rift with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The former Rivers governor said politicians who align with individuals he considers disloyal should expect betrayal in return.

“Whoever you are, senator, House of Representatives member, minister, or governor, if you support betrayers, people will continue to betray you in life,” he said.

He warned that such actions could have serious political and personal consequences, stressing that those backing disloyalty may later find themselves unable to respond when faced with similar situations.

According to him, “You will reap the seed that you planted,” adding that betrayal would eventually follow those who encourage it.

Wike also directed his remarks at second-term governors planning to install successors, suggesting they risk early rebellion from those they promote if they tolerate what he called betrayal in politics.

The comments come against the backdrop of the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State involving Wike and Governor Fubara, a dispute that has generated divisions within the state’s political structure and drawn national attention.

While Wike has repeatedly accused some political figures of disloyalty, Fubara’s supporters maintain that the governor is exercising his independence in governance.

The commissioning event also featured infrastructure linked to political mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which Wike said would serve as a platform for loyal supporters.
