BAT Ideological Group Seeks Royal Endorsement, Unveils Lagos Governance and Empowerment Agenda
The Convener of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) Ideological Group, Comrade Bamidele Atoyebi, recently paid a courtesy visit to Chief Opeluwa, the Head of the White Cap Chiefs of Lagos, at his palace in Lagos, as part of efforts to formally introduce the group’s ideological mission and secure traditional support for a series of governance, academic and empowerment initiatives linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The visit, which took place in Lagos, was aimed at presenting the vision of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group and extending invitations to landmark programmes designed to promote leadership development, policy accountability and social empowerment.
These include the planned unveiling of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Institute of Governance at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUTECH), the Centre for Politics, Policy and Accountability, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Endowed Chair at the University of Lagos, as well as an empowerment programme targeted at military and paramilitary wives in Ikeja, Lagos.
Chief Opeluwa occupies a historically significant position in Lagos traditional institutions, having led the White Cap Chiefs at the time the late Oba Oyekan conferred the Asiwaju of Lagos title on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This legacy, according to sources within the group, made the engagement symbolically important as the BAT Ideological Group advances initiatives aligned with Tinubu’s long-standing political philosophy and governance ideals.
During the meeting, Comrade Atoyebi also used the opportunity to personally invite the traditional leader to the burial ceremony of his father-in-law, underscoring the visit’s blend of formal engagement and personal courtesy.
All requests presented during the visit were graciously approved by Chief Opeluwa, who offered fatherly prayers and blessings for the success of the group’s programmes and future engagements.
Comrade Atoyebi was accompanied on the visit by the Director of Media and Publicity of the group, Arabinrin Aderonke; the Lagos State Coordinator, Hon. Qudus Babatunde; and the Lagos State Youth Leader, Scholar Solomon Ogo-Oluwa.
The engagement is seen as part of broader consultations by the BAT Ideological Group with key stakeholders as it prepares to roll out initiatives focused on governance education, policy discourse and inclusive empowerment in Lagos and beyond.
