Facebook to Showcase Creator Tools at African Creators Summit in Lagos

Facebook is set to take a central role at the 2026 African Creators Summit in Lagos, where it will provide on-ground experiences to engage with the continent’s rapidly growing digital talent.

The event, scheduled for Thursday, January 29, at the Federal Palace Hotel, serves as a major gathering for storytellers, innovators, and digital entrepreneurs.

The summit is themed “Building a Sustainable Ecosystem Where Africa Trades Its Swag,” a concept that aligns with Facebook’s ongoing mission to support creators.

The social media giant plans to use the platform to showcase tools specifically designed to help African creators expand their audience, improve content discovery, and enhance community engagement.

Oluwasola Obagbemi, Meta’s Head of Communications for Sub-Saharan Africa, emphasized the company’s commitment to the region. She noted that Facebook is dedicated to empowering creators within the communities where they are already active, ensuring they have the resources needed to succeed while sharing original content.

Highlighting the economic and social potential of the platform, Obagbemi stated: “We are excited to showcase the opportunities Facebook offers to reach a massive global audience, connect more deeply with real people, and earn real money across all content formats.” This focus on monetization and global reach is a key pillar of Facebook’s participation this year.

The summit will also feature a Facebook-themed booth where celebrities, young adults, and content creators can collaborate and participate in interactive experiences. These activities are designed to highlight the importance of authentic connections and the power of building digital communities through Facebook’s diverse features like Groups and Reels.

Oladapo Adewunmi, the convener of the African Creators Summit, described creators as the architects of modern culture whose work shapes global trends. He praised Facebook’s continued support, noting that the partnership acts as a vital bridge between African talent and the global marketplace, ultimately driving cultural influence and economic growth.
