Osun Amongst Few States Fully Implementing New Minimum Wage, Says Gov Adeleke
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared that his administration stands out as one of the few state governments across the federation actively implementing the approved national minimum wage for its workforce.
The governor made the assertion on Wednesday in Osogbo, the state capital, while delivering an address at the opening session of the National Retreat of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council.
Adeleke maintained that upholding the dignity of labour is a core priority of his administration, noting that Osun State successfully rolled out the new wage structure alongside the necessary consequential adjustments to ensure eligible civil servants receive their fair allocations. He added that the state government has deliberately sustained a highly cordial relationship with organized labour by keeping communication channels constantly open to address grievances and resolve industrial conflicts before they escalate.
Beyond the baseline salary increments for active public servants, the governor highlighted ongoing welfare interventions designed to provide economic relief to retirees in the state. He explained that his administration has established a reliable system for the regular and prompt payment of monthly pensions while injecting substantial funds to systematically clear outstanding pension liabilities and gratuity arrears inherited from past administrations.
Adeleke emphasized that these worker-centric policies are being paired with massive subnational investments in critical sectors such as public infrastructure, healthcare delivery, education, agriculture, and grassroots economic development. He concluded by urging the state workforce to reciprocate the government’s fiscal commitments by maintaining high productivity, adopting innovative public service solutions, and ensuring strict accountability in their daily duties to drive the state’s overall growth.
