You Will Win, Ganduje Assures Kano Gov of APC Ticket

The former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has guaranteed Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State a victory in the 2027 gubernatorial election.
Ganduje mentioned that all potential contenders within the party have reached an agreement to back Yusuf’s bid for a second term.
While welcoming Yusuf back to the APC in Kano on Monday, Ganduje described the Governor’s return as a major boost for the party’s local strength. During the event, he told the Governor, “You will win your second term in 2027. We have spoken to all aspirants, and they have agreed to support you.”
Governor Yusuf officially rejoined the APC on Monday, January 26, 2026, after resigning from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) the week prior.
This move marks a return to his political roots, as he was previously a member of the APC between 2014 and 2018. In his resignation letter to the NNPP chairman of Diso-Chiranchi Ward, effective January 23, Yusuf cited the need to protect the interests of the people and escape persistent internal party crises.
Ganduje framed the return as a homecoming, noting that Yusuf was present during the party’s formative years.
He remarked, “This is a memorable and historic occasion. Your Excellency, you are welcome back home to the APC. When the party was formed, you were with us, but later political differences and misconceptions led you away. Now you are back.”
Describing Yusuf as a leader whose style matches the APC’s ideology, Ganduje added, “We know you as a progressive politician from your perception, utterances and disposition. APC is perfect with you.”
Ganduje further clarified that, following party tradition, the Governor now assumes the role of party leader in the state. He explained, “In APC, all serving governors are leaders of the party in their respective states. Therefore, you are the leader of the APC in Kano State.”
The former chairman promised Yusuf fair treatment and expressed total confidence in the party’s future success, stating, “As you are coming in, we assure you that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will also win the 2027 election. APC will stand solidly with you.”
The Governor’s defection has triggered a massive political realignment in Kano. According to a report Online, he was joined in his move to the ruling party by 22 state lawmakers, eight members of the House of Representatives, and the chairmen of all 44 local government areas in the state.
