Osun PDP Rejects NWC Dissolution as Group Backs Caretaker Committee

The Osun State PDP Working Committee has rejected its dissolution by the National Working Committee, declaring the move unlawful.

Chairman Sunday Bisi maintained that the state structure remains intact and urged members to ignore “unauthorized” directives from national headquarters.

The committee insisted its legitimacy comes from local party members and due process, rather than external pressure. They reaffirmed their total support for Governor Ademola Adeleke, dismissing the dissolution attempt as a form of intimidation intended to distract from their electoral goals.

Conversely, a group called Professionals in Osun PDP praised the national leadership for appointing a caretaker committee. They argued the change is vital for party reorganization and will help reconcile members who felt marginalized by the previous state leadership.

The national PDP leadership justified the dissolution by citing constitutional powers to manage state affairs through caretaker units.

This move affects several states, with a new team led by Tunde Tijani appointed to take over the Osun chapter immediately.

These caretaker committees are mandated to run party affairs for a maximum of 90 days until new executives are elected. This leadership vacuum and the resulting pushback highlight a significant internal conflict between the state and national arms of the party.
