Abba Atiku Abubakar Joins APC
Abba Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 reelection bid.
He was formally received in Abuja on Thursday by the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, and APC National Vice Chairman (North East), Mustafa Salihu.
In a clear shift of political allegiance, Abba announced the immediate rebranding of his volunteer structure. The “Atiku Haske Organisation,” established in 2022 to support his father, has been renamed the **Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation**. This move aims to pivot his existing grassroots network toward the ruling party’s national mobilization efforts.
The defection highlights a growing political divergence within the Abubakar family. While his father recently moved to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to lead a unified opposition coalition, Abba’s entry into the APC strengthens the President’s influence in the North East.
This strategic realignment is seen as a major gain for the APC ahead of the next general elections.
Party leadership described the development as a significant boost for the “Renewed Hope” agenda and youth engagement. Senator Barau Jibrin noted that Abba’s influence would bring fresh energy to the party’s northern structures.
The newly renamed Haske organisation is now expected to begin aggressive outreach to consolidate support for the Tinubu administration.
