Police Air Wing, Military Deal Heavy Blow to Criminal Groups in Kogi

Joint security forces comprising personnel of the Nigerian military and the Nigeria Police Force have recorded a major breakthrough against armed bandits in parts of Kogi State, neutralising several suspects during a coordinated operation.

The offensive, which took place over the weekend, involved ground troops supported by aerial surveillance and precision strikes from the Nigeria Police Air Wing.

The operation targeted identified hideouts and movement routes used by criminal groups terrorising communities in the state.

Confirming the development, the Kogi State Police Command said the sustained joint action led to the disruption of bandits’ operational networks, forcing them out of strategic locations and significantly weakening their capacity to carry out attacks.

According to the police, the exercise forms part of an ongoing security strategy aimed at restoring peace and preventing further criminal activities across the state.

The command noted that the professionalism, resilience and coordination displayed by the operatives, particularly the police pilots providing aerial support, contributed greatly to the success recorded.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report individuals with gunshot wounds, unusual injuries or suspicious behaviour to the nearest security post, as fleeing suspects may attempt to blend into local communities.

The police further appealed to members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information, stressing that effective security can only be achieved through collective effort and cooperation.
