Ex-IGP Calls for Prayers, Unity to Restore Peace in Nasarawa, Nigeria

A former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar-Adamu (Rtd), has appealed to Christians across the 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State to unite in prayers for lasting peace and improved security in the state and the country.

In a Christmas message issued in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, Abubakar-Adamu urged residents to combine prayer with collective action to confront criminal activities threatening peace in the state.

He stressed that unity among citizens remains key to overcoming insecurity.

Speaking on the importance of the season, the retired police chief called on people to promote peaceful coexistence, tolerance and togetherness.

According to him,
“At this critical moment in our nation’s journey, I invite us all to embrace the spirit of peace, tolerance, and togetherness that Christmas represents. Let us rise above division, reject hatred, and renew our commitment to building a safer, stronger, and more inclusive Nasarawa State and Nigeria.”

He encouraged Christians to use the Christmas celebration as a time to reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ through love, prayer, and respect for leadership. In his words,

“As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, a season that reflects love, sacrifice, peace, and hope, I herewith extend my warmest Christmas greetings to the good people of Nasarawa State and Nigerians at large.”

Abubakar-Adamu noted that Christmas serves as a reminder of shared values that hold the nation together. He said the season calls for unity, compassion and hope for a better future, adding that society must remain committed to justice, security and mutual respect.

The former police boss also praised the perseverance of residents, particularly youths, women and security personnel, acknowledging their efforts in keeping communities safe despite challenges.

He offered prayers for comfort, renewed strength and hope for families across the state during the festive period.

Looking ahead, he expressed optimism for the coming year, praying for wise leadership and purposeful governance.

“As we look ahead to the New Year, may God grant us wisdom in leadership, clarity of purpose, and the courage to do what is right for the common good under the Renewed Hope Initiatives of Mr. President,” he said.

The message ended with a call for collective responsibility in building a peaceful and secure Nasarawa State and a stronger Nigeria.
