Popular Nigerian Gospel Singer Big Bolaji Dies at 50

Renowned Nigerian gospel singer and pastor, Bolaji Adedotun Olanrewaju, popularly known as Big Bolaji or “Big B,” has passed away at the age of 50.

His family confirmed his death occurred on Easter Saturday, April 19, 2025, following a brief illness.

Big Bolaji was a beloved figure in Nigeria’s gospel music scene, celebrated for his vibrant performances, soulful voice, and deep-rooted passion for ministry.

An ordained pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), he also made his mark as a radio talk show host, spreading messages of faith and hope through multiple platforms.

Starting his musical journey with the gospel group J’apha, Big Bolaji grew to become a staple name in Christian gatherings and gospel concerts across the country. His ministry inspired many, and he was particularly known for using his music to uplift hearts and draw people closer to God.

In a heartfelt statement, his family described him as “a cherished father, husband, brother, and an esteemed figure in both the church community and the music industry.” They expressed deep sorrow over his sudden passing and thanked the public for their support and prayers.

Just a few months ago, Big Bolaji had celebrated his 50th birthday in November 2024, marking a milestone in a life that had touched many. Plans for his funeral and memorial services will be announced in due time.

His passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes from fans, fellow gospel artists, and church leaders who remember him as a man of immense talent, humility, and unwavering faith.

Big Bolaji’s legacy will live on through his music, ministry, and the countless lives he impacted during his time on earth.
