Tinubu Hails Wike as ‘Exceptional Performer’ at 58 President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on his 58th birthday, describing the former Rivers State governor as an “exceptional performer” whose public service record reflects courage, purpose and visible results In a statement released on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president praised Wike’s leadership style and commitment to national development, noting that his impact has been strongly felt since his appointment as FCT minister. Tinubu said Wike’s approach to governance demonstrates audacity, determination and a focus on delivery, qualities he described as essential to the success of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The president commended the minister for overseeing major infrastructure projects across Abuja, saying the scale and pace of development in the nation’s capital under Wike’s watch have helped make government policies more tangible to residents and visitors alike. According to the statement, the ongoing renewal of roads and public facilities in the FCT reflects the administration’s resolve to improve living standards and restore confidence in public institutions. Tinubu also acknowledged Wike’s long career in public service, recalling his tenure as chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, Minister of State for Education, and two-term governor of Rivers State. He described Wike as a leader who has consistently taken on challenging responsibilities and delivered outcomes that attract both attention and debate. Since assuming office as FCT minister in August 2023, Wike has emerged as one of the most prominent figures in the federal cabinet, drawing praise for visible infrastructure renewal while also generating political discussion due to his outspoken style and influence. Supporters argue that his hands-on leadership has accelerated development in the capital, while critics continue to call for transparency and inclusive governance. The president wished Wike good health, renewed strength and greater accomplishments in the years ahead, expressing confidence that he will continue to play a key role in advancing the administration’s objectives. Wike’s 58th birthday has also attracted goodwill messages from political allies, senior government officials and supporters across the country, many of whom describe Tinubu’s tribute as a recognition of performance and loyalty at a critical time in the life of the administration.
