Nigerian Girl Set to Build a Robot in 100-Hour Guinness World Record Attempt

A young Nigerian tech enthusiast, Rejoice Kosi Anierobi, is set to make history this December as she embarks on a 100-hour Guinness World Record attempt for the Longest Marathon of Teaching Computer Programming, an extraordinary feat that will also see her build a functional robot live during the challenge.

Anierobi’s attempt goes beyond breaking a global record.

It is being positioned as a bold statement about youth innovation, African excellence, and the limitless potential of young people in technology.

According to organisers, the 100-hour marathon will involve continuous teaching sessions covering computer programming and hands-on building activities.

Throughout the period, she will guide participants through practical skills such as robotics, Arduino systems, Raspberry Pi, satellite programming, and foundational coding, all while constructing a robot from scratch.

The initiative, driven by her platform theblogblog9ja, aims to create an accessible space where young people can learn real technological skills without barriers or gatekeeping.

Anierobi says her mission is to show that global-standard innovation can emerge from communities often overlooked by the world.

“This isn’t just a record attempt. It’s a movement,” supporters said, highlighting the project’s goal of inspiring young Africans to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and robotics.

Youth advocates, tech communities, and supporters of female representation in STEM have praised the feat as a powerful symbol of possibility.

Many are calling on Nigerians and the global community to rally behind Anierobi’s attempt as she works to secure a place in the Guinness World Records.

The 100-hour challenge is scheduled for December, with organisers expected to release further details on the venue, programme schedule, and participation guidelines in the coming days.

If successful, Anierobi will not only break a world record but also set a new benchmark for youth-led innovation in Nigeria’s growing tech ecosystem.
