Muslims Join Christians in Kaduna to Celebrate Church’s 25th Anniversary

Muslims and Christians came together in Kaduna on Sunday to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, demonstrating religious tolerance, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.

The silver jubilee celebration, held on November 8, 2026, attracted Muslim men, women and children from different communities who joined members of the church to commemorate the milestone and strengthen relationships across religious boundaries.

Speaking at the event, the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Dr Yohanna Buru, described the anniversary as a significant moment for promoting peace, unity and religious harmony in Kaduna State.

Buru, who is also a United Nations Peace Ambassador in Nigeria, said the church deliberately invited its Muslim neighbours and friends to participate in the celebration as part of efforts to deepen friendship and encourage peaceful coexistence.

He expressed happiness over the participation of Muslims, noting that their presence demonstrated the importance of love, acceptance and understanding among people of different religious backgrounds.

According to him, the church welcomes everyone regardless of religion, ethnic group, cultural background or social status.

He appreciated the Muslim community for identifying with the church during the anniversary and joining in prayers for peace and unity in Nigeria.

The cleric urged Muslims and Christians to recognise their shared humanity as descendants of Adam and Eve and work together despite their religious differences.

He added that both faiths emphasise good conduct and belief in the hereafter, including paradise and hell, stressing the need for their followers to promote tolerance, forgiveness and mutual respect.

In his remarks, a Muslim representative, Mallam Yusuf Jibril Zigo, congratulated the church and its members on reaching the 25-year milestone.

Zigo described the occasion as an opportunity to strengthen the longstanding relationship between the two religious communities. He said the Muslim delegation attended to celebrate with their Christian brothers and sisters and offer prayers for peace, love and forgiveness.

The Muslim participants also prayed for an end to insecurity affecting communities across Northern Nigeria, calling for divine intervention to restore lasting peace and stability to the region.

Similarly, the Team Leader of the Network of Peace Journalists, Ibrahima Yakubu, commended the pastors and Islamic clerics who attended the celebration, describing their participation as a positive demonstration of interfaith solidarity.

Yakubu urged religious leaders to sustain such initiatives by promoting dialogue, tolerance and stronger relationships among followers of different faiths.

He stressed that bringing Muslims and Christians together during important religious and social occasions could strengthen trust, overcome prejudice and encourage lasting peace in society.
