How Assassination Attempt on my Father Reinforced My Faith in God
Love Ogah, daughter of Bishop David Oyedepo the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners Chapel) has recounted a harrowing childhood experience involving a failed assassination attempt on her father.
Speaking during a church service, Love shared how her personal encounter with danger and divine intervention taught her the undeniable power of God’s protection and the importance of cultivating a personal relationship with Him.
Love narrated that the incident took place while she was still in secondary school. One fateful night, a group of hired assassins arrived at their home with one chilling goal: to kill Bishop Oyedepo.
“They came to our gate and clearly stated, ‘We are here to execute him,’ referring to my father. Our house turned into a war zone,” she narrated.
The attackers reportedly combed through the house, leaving no room unchecked. Yet in a twist that defied natural explanation, they failed to locate Bishop Oyedepo even though he was right there, in plain sight. “My father watched them the whole time,” Love recounted, “but they couldn’t see him.”
She described a particularly painful moment when she and other family members hid behind a door. In the chaos, the door slammed into her face, tearing her gum and causing her to bleed. Still, the fear of the moment was eclipsed by the awe of what happened next.
Eventually, after hours of intense tension, her aunt rushed in, weeping and frantically searching for Bishop Oyedepo. To everyone’s amazement, he calmly walked out of his room, untouched and unshaken.
“We thought it was a movie. He told us, ‘I was watching them the whole time.’ They had entered his room, searched it, but didn’t see him,” she narrated.
Love concluded her story with a powerful charge to the congregation: “When you’re in the centre of God’s will, challenges will test your faith. That’s why I’m pleading, know God for yourself. You can’t fake this forever. The enemies are many, but when you’re in God, you live from a place of victory. They can’t touch you.”
Her testimony has since sparked reflection and discussion within Christian circles, serving as a reminder of what many believers see as the supernatural power of divine covering. In a world fraught with physical and spiritual threats, her story stands as a call to faith, readiness, and the unshakable belief that being in God’s will is the safest place to be even in the face of death.
