Army Kills Seven Terrorists over 48 Hours in Aggressive Raids
The Nigerian Army has launched intensified operations across the country, neutralising seven terrorists and arresting 27 others in a renewed push against insurgents, bandits, and economic saboteurs.
The large-scale raids, conducted within the last 48 hours, were part of the new directives issued by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, who recently ordered troops to “completely annihilate terrorists and dismantle all networks of criminality.”
In a statement on Sunday, the Army announced that troops recorded “notable breakthroughs” during coordinated offensives in the North East, North West, North Central, and South-South regions.
According to the statement, troops of Sector 3, Operation Hadin Kai, carried out a precision cordon-and-search mission in Anguwan Church, Monguno, Borno State, arresting 12 suspects linked to terrorist logistics and intelligence operations.
Similarly, soldiers of the 192 Battalion ambushed members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) along the Gwoza–Limankara axis, killing three insurgents and seizing an AK-47 rifle and ammunition.
Another terrorist was gunned down by troops of the 25 Brigade in Damboa during an attempted infiltration of a military position.
In the North West, troops under Operation Enduring Peace raided a hideout in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing two insurgents allegedly behind recent civilian attacks. Four suspects involved in the killing of two residents were also arrested in Riyom, Plateau State.
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma in Niger State further eliminated a terrorist scout and recovered a motorcycle and mobile phone used for surveillance.
The Army reported additional successes in the South-South region, where 2 Brigade troops in Akwa Ibom arrested three illegal miners involved in black sand extraction. In Abia and Imo states, soldiers uncovered illegal refining sites containing thousands of litres of stolen crude oil and seized several drums used in illicit trade.
In Delta State, the 90 Amphibious Battalion apprehended three suspects, including a man dressed in fake military uniform.
Recovered items included counterfeit ranks, mobile phones, and charms.
The Army described the coordinated raids as part of a “revitalised combat posture” designed to sustain pressure on terrorists and restore national stability under General Shaibu’s leadership.
“The Nigerian Army remains unyielding in its resolve to restore peace, safeguard citizens, and defend the nation’s sovereignty,” the statement read. It also urged Nigerians to provide timely intelligence to aid ongoing counter-insurgency operations.
According to the Army, the new offensive marks a decisive phase in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and oil theft nationwide.
