Soludo in Good Start, Wins Polling Unit in Isuofia
Governor Charles Soludo, the incumbent Governor of Anambra State and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has recorded a sweeping victory at his polling unit in the ongoing governorship election.
Soludo, who cast his vote earlier in the day at Polling Unit 002, Umuezeadigo Street, Isuofia, in Aguata Local Government Area, secured a total of 417 votes, leaving his rivals far behind.
His closest contender, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), managed four votes, while the Accord Party candidate received one vote.
According to the Presiding Officer, Miss Obiorah Anwulike, who announced the results around 5:30 p.m., a total of 430 voters were accredited at the polling unit, with eight votes declared invalid.
The outcome reflects a strong showing for the governor on his home turf, as Isuofia is Soludo’s hometown.
Supporters at the polling centre reportedly cheered upon the announcement, describing the victory as a “sign of confidence in the governor’s leadership.”
Voting at the unit was said to have proceeded peacefully, with security agencies maintaining order and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ensuring a smooth process.
As collation continues across the state, political observers are watching closely to see whether Soludo’s early lead at his polling unit will translate into a broader victory for APGA in the highly anticipated election.
