Kogi Artiste Arrested After Blowing Kidnap Ransom on Phones, Women, Alcohol

A budding musician in Kogi State, identified as Lucky Itopa, has been arrested after allegedly kidnapping his neighbour and spending the ransom money on luxury items, drugs, and women.

Itopa was said to have abducted one A. Yesufu and demanded ₦6 million for her release. After receiving the payment, he reportedly fled and used the proceeds to buy a motorcycle, several Android phones, and a generator before lavishly spending the rest on alcohol and sex workers in Ajaokuta Local Government Area.

According to local sources, Itopa’s extravagant lifestyle soon drew the attention of community vigilantes, who began tracking his movements.

His frequent appearances at social spots and flashy display of wealth reportedly made it easier for the security network to predict his routine.

He was eventually apprehended in Upake village by members of the local vigilante group, who handed him over to the police.

Investigators said the suspect, now penniless, confessed that he had squandered the entire ransom on drugs, alcohol, and women.

“Itopa had nothing left in his bank account at the time of arrest,” a source familiar with the case confirmed. “He admitted spending all the money on his new lifestyle.”

The suspect, who pleaded for forgiveness, remains in police custody as investigations continue.
