13-Year-Old Genius Breaks Records, Accepted at Morehouse College

Meet Joshua Suddith, a Georgia-based 13-year-old child genius who broke records from day one. When he was only 9 months old, he already spoke in words, 18 months, and he began to read. When he turned 3, he had written his first book. But it was at the age of 4 that Joshua established his true inspiration – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who entered Morehouse College as a student at the tender age of 15.

It provided a new challenge to the child prodigy: to shatter Dr. King’s record and become the youngest student ever to attend Morehouse.

Today, Joshua has achieved the impossible by receiving an acceptance letter on his 13th birthday from Morehouse College. This incredible feat is a testament to his untainted drive and commitment to learning.

To accompany his acceptance into Morehouse, Joshua also received acceptances into other notable Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) such as Jackson State University, Tennessee State, Miles College, and Shaw University. He also has pending acceptance decisions at Harvard, Georgia Tech, and Yale.

Joshua’s own intellectual capacity is undeniable, as he has a GPA of 3.88 at Augusta Technical College, in which he is taking courses concurrent with his high school education. He has already earned 27 credit hours and will delay entrance to Morehouse for another year, so that he can finish high school prior to entering Morehouse. This will put him in position to enter Morehouse at age 14, one year younger than Dr. King was when he entered.

“I am driven by a passion for learning and a need to impact the world,” Joshua told reporters, his dedication and enthusiasm clear. His parents, Joshua and Chaundra Suddith, are proud of their son’s achievement. “His determination and perseverance are the most impressive qualities of his personality,” his mother said. “He didn’t let barriers get in the way of his objective.”

As Joshua prepares to take the next step in his education, he remains unwavering in his drive to make the world a better world. His focus solely on Morehouse College, he stands one step closer to realizing his aspirations and motivating others to do the same.
