Residents Celebrate Diversity at 2025 Banana Island Multicultural Festival

Residents of Banana Island on Saturday turned out en mass to celebrate the 2025 Banana Island Multicultural Festival, an annual event that showcases the community’s unity and cultural diversity.

The festival, themed “Global Rhythms on One Island,” brought together families, friends, and visitors from different races, tribes, and nationalities in a colourful celebration of art, music, and shared heritage.

The event featured cultural displays, dance showcases, and spoken word performances that reflected the spirit of inclusion and togetherness within the exclusive Lagos community.

A major highlight was the parade of vibrant costumes that captivated spectators.

Among the standout appearances was a performer in a striking peacock-inspired outfit, intricately designed with petals and bold colours that drew admiration from the crowd.

Another memorable moment came when Senator Ita Giwa arrived and joined a troupe of dancers dressed in matching African print carnival costumes.

Her energetic participation received loud applause from attendees as the master of ceremonies announced her recent accolades.

Speaking during the event, Senator Giwa praised the organisers for promoting cultural harmony through the festival.

“I want to thank the estate management of the Banana Island estate for always putting this together. I hope we continue to come to this Island to showcase and tell our story,” she said.

She also pledged her continuous support for peaceful coexistence among residents.

The Banana Island Multicultural Festival has become a signature event fostering community spirit and cross-cultural appreciation among residents and guests of one of Lagos’s most cosmopolitan neighbourhoods.
