Fubara Dismisses All Commissioners, Public Officers After Supreme Court Ruling

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has terminated the appointments of all commissioners and public officials serving in his administration.
The governor announced the decision on Wednesday in Port Harcourt through a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.
The directive, he said, takes immediate effect and follows the recent judgment of the Supreme Court.
Fubara, however, expressed appreciation to his outgoing cabinet members for their dedication and contributions to governance over the past two years.
He spoke during a valedictory session held at the Government House as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
In his remarks, the governor urged citizens to uphold the values of unity and patriotism. He further encouraged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s efforts in fostering peace, security, and economic progress.
While reaffirming his commitment to lead the state with renewed determination, Fubara extended gratitude to Rivers people for their support and conveyed best wishes to the nation on Independence Day.
The statement noted: “All Commissioners and public officers affected by the Supreme Court verdict have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect.”
It will be recalled that former State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), had earlier suspended Fubara’s cabinet members, special advisers, and assistants following President Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers. Ibas also dissolved state boards and suspended heads of parastatals.
Since his exit from office on September 18, uncertainty had surrounded the status of Fubara’s appointees until Wednesday’s announcement ended the speculation.
