Katsina Targets 4.8m Children in Rubella, Polio Vaccination Campaign

At least 4.8 million children aged between nine months and 14 years are set to be vaccinated against Rubella in Katsina State during the forthcoming Integrated Polio Vaccination Campaign scheduled for October 6 to 13, 2025.
In addition, the state has received 3,698,500 doses of the Novel Oral Polio Vaccine (nOPV2), targeting 2.3 million children under five years of age.
The exercise will be conducted through the Directly Observed Oral Polio Vaccination (DOOPV) strategy.
The Chief of UNICEF Field Office in Kano, Rahama Farah, disclosed this on Monday in Katsina during a media dialogue on the October campaign.
According to him, the campaign is a collaborative effort between UNICEF and the Katsina State Government, with the support of the National Emergency Operation Centre, the World Health Organisation (WHO), and the Katsina State Primary Healthcare Agency.
Farah emphasized the importance of the vaccination exercise in safeguarding children from preventable diseases, stressing that Rubella and polio remain serious threats to public health if not adequately addressed.
The campaign is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to eradicate polio and improve child health outcomes in the state.
