Group Commends DSS Over Malami’s Invitation on Kebbi Political Unrest

The North-West Progressive Mandate Frontiers has applauded the Department of State Services (DSS) for inviting former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, over the recent political unrest in Kebbi State.

Malami had revealed in a Facebook post on Monday that he was summoned by the DSS following a violent clash between his convoy and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Birnin Kebbi.

He alleged that the petition which led to his invitation was instigated by “opposition high-profile political elements” in the state.

Reacting to the development, the group’s spokesman, Armayau Kabir Koko, in a statement issued on Tuesday, described the DSS action as a demonstration of its commitment to transparency, fairness, and the rule of law in handling issues capable of undermining peace and democratic stability.

“No individual, regardless of status or influence, should be above accountability when the unity and progress of our nation are at stake,” Koko said.

The group urged political actors in Kebbi State to prioritize peace and avoid actions that could heighten tensions, stressing that democratic governance thrives only in an atmosphere of law and order.
