Family Fixes May 13 for Edwin Clarke’s Burial

The family of the late elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, has announced that his burial will take place on May 13, 2025, in his hometown of Kiagbodo, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

The announcement was made by Mr. Penaowei, Clark’s eldest son, at a press briefing held at the family residence in Kiagbodo on Saturday.

Chief Clark, a former Federal Commissioner for Information and senator during the Second Republic, passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 97.

He was a prominent leader in the Niger Delta region and played a significant role in the country’s political landscape.

According to Mr. Clark, the burial date was chosen after due consultation with relevant stakeholders, including the government, political associates, religious bodies, and socio-cultural organizations.

“Our father, who passed away on February 17, 2025, will be laid to rest on May 13, 2025, in his family compound in Kiagbodo,” he said.

The funeral activities will begin on May 7 in Abuja and will conclude with the final burial rites in Kiagbodo on May 13. The family has promised a befitting burial for the late elder statesman, who was known for his contributions to the development of the Niger Delta region and the country at large.

The Delta State Government has announced that it will provide adequate security for the funeral activities. The government has assured the public that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth and peaceful burial ceremony.
