NNPC Ltd. Woos International Investors to Tap into Nigeria’s Vast Energy Resources

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) is calling on international investors to tap into the country’s vast energy resources. Group Chief Executive Officer Bayo Ojulari made this appeal during the 2025 Gastech Exhibition and Conference in Milan, Italy, highlighting Nigeria’s potential as a top destination for oil and gas investment in Africa.

Ojulari emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has improved Nigeria’s investment climate, positioning the country as a preferred investment destination for the energy sector in Africa.

The company is seeking at least $60 billion in investment over the next five to seven years to grow production and develop the oil and gas industry.

Nigeria aims to scale up its natural gas production to 12 billion cubic feet per day and expand refinery capacity to meet rising global demand.

The country also has huge untapped oil reservoirs, with over 200 undeveloped oil fields with enormous potential.

NNPC Ltd. is investing heavily in carbon capture projects and technology to enhance energy efficiency and reduce gas flaring. Critical projects such as the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) gas pipeline and the NLNG Train 7 are already at advanced stages.

The company’s energy transition strategy is built around gas and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), with a focus on eradicating energy poverty. With over six million Africans lacking access to clean energy, NNPC Ltd. is seeking investments to support the development of the energy sector.
