ADC Reserves 50% of Positions for Youth, Women, Welcomes Defectors in Lagos

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has pledged to allocate half of its elective and appointive positions to youths and women, in a move it described as a genuine step toward inclusive governance.

The party’s National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, made the announcement on Saturday in Lagos during a ceremony to formally receive defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and other political platforms.

In his speech titled “When Good People Unite, Nigerians Win,” Aregbesola former Osun State Governor and Minister of Interior—emphasised that the ADC was a youth-driven party committed to rescuing Nigeria from its present challenges.

“ADC constitution boldly affirms the place of youth and women in leadership. This is not tokenism but a recognition that Nigeria’s future lies in giving voice, space, and power to those who have long been underrepresented,” he said.

He assured the new members of equal opportunities within the party, stressing that the ADC would serve as a platform where integrity, competence, and innovation define political leadership.

The event also featured the formal affirmation of defectors, who pledged loyalty to the party’s ideals and promised to contribute to its growth ahead of the 2027 general elections.
