Akwa Ibom Governor Justifies N1 Million Salaries for PAs

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has responded to criticism over the welfare of his Personal Assistants (PAs), revealing that none of them earns less than ₦1 million per month.

The governor made this known during a constituency engagement with residents of Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency.

Governor Eno dismissed claims of poor remuneration as “pure mischief,” emphasizing that ₦1 million is a substantial amount of money.

He cited the example of Blessed Essien, a PA on Protocol, who used part of his earnings to fund a borehole and water distribution system for his community.

The governor praised Essien’s initiative, describing it as the kind of spirit he wants to encourage.

In a symbolic gesture, Governor Eno promoted Essien to Special Assistant on Public Works, highlighting his exemplary leadership.

In a bid to promote transparency and accountability, Governor Eno announced plans to publish the full list of political appointees and their local government areas in national newspapers.

He urged constituents to hold their representatives accountable for their actions and contributions to the community.

The governor’s remarks have sparked a renewed discussion on the role of political appointees in serving the public interest.

By highlighting the achievements of his PAs, Governor Eno aims to inspire a sense of responsibility and community service among his team.
