JAMB Sets Up Special Committee to Tackle 2025 UTME Malpractice

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has inaugurated a special examination malpractice committee to address irregularities recorded in the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The move, announced on Monday at the board’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, is part of JAMB’s renewed efforts to safeguard the credibility of Nigeria’s most subscribed tertiary entrance examination.

Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who inaugurated the committee, said the decision underscores the board’s commitment to protecting the integrity of its examinations and ensuring a level playing field for all candidates.

“Examination malpractice remains one of the greatest threats to Nigeria’s education system. Proactive measures such as this committee are necessary to preserve fairness, transparency, and credibility in our admission processes,” Oloyede said.

In addition to tackling malpractice, JAMB directed all public universities across the country to conclude their 2025 admissions process no later than October 31, 2025.

The board stressed that strict adherence to deadlines and rules would help streamline the admission cycle, giving candidates clarity and confidence in the system.

With the establishment of the committee, JAMB said it expects increased vigilance, stiffer sanctions for violators, and a stronger framework to deter malpractice in future examinations.
