Sokoto Varsity Sacks Staff for NYSC Mobilisation Infraction
Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), has dismissed a registry staff member named Malam Garba Ahmed. The decision follows allegations of his involvement in a fraudulent National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilisation scheme.
The university’s Governing Council approved the dismissal during its 176th meeting held on April 1, 2026. The move was officially announced in a special bulletin issued by the institution shortly after the session.
Investigations revealed that Ahmed was guilty of gross misconduct for bypassing official protocols. He reportedly uploaded the names of unqualified and ineligible candidates onto the NYSC portal without authorization.
The institution’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Ismaila Mohammed Yauri, confirmed the development to the press. He stated that the dismissal took immediate effect from the date of the Council’s decision.
Yauri emphasized that the university maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding any form of academic or administrative fraud. He noted that the disciplinary action was necessary to protect the integrity of the school’s graduation processes.
The university management concluded by warning other staff members against engaging in similar illicit activities. They reiterated their commitment to transparency and upholding high standards of accountability in student records.
