Kogi Gov’s Father, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, Dies at 83

The father of Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, Alhaji Ahmed Momohsani Ododo, has passed away at the age of 83.

His death was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo.

According to the statement, the late Ododo was a devout Muslim who lived a life of service, humility and dedication to God, his family, and his community. He will be laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.

“The Kogi State Government regrets to announce the passing of the father of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Late Alhaji Ahmed Momohsani Ododo, who returned to his Creator a few hours ago at the age of 83,” the statement read.

The Commissioner described the deceased as a highly respected elder whose wisdom and guidance were instrumental in shaping the values of the Ododo family. He noted that his passing is not only a great loss to the family but also to the people of Kogi State.

“The State Government and people of Kogi stand firmly with the Governor and his family at this trying moment. We pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him Aljannah Firdaus,” Fanwo added.

Sympathisers have begun trooping to the Governor’s family home to condole with him, while messages of condolence have poured in from political leaders, traditional rulers, and members of the public.

Alhaji Ahmed Ododo is survived by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, including Governor Usman Ododo.
