Akpabio Returns from London, Boasts, ‘I’m Fit as Fiddle’ over Health Rumours

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio on Monday morning returned to Nigeria after a brief vacation in London, putting to rest speculations about his health.
In a statement issued by his media office, Akpabio was said to have arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at about 4:00 a.m. and was received at the Presidential Wing by senators, aides, and well-wishers.
The statement clarified that contrary to rumours of his hospitalization in London, the Senate President was only on vacation following his participation in the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, held in Geneva, Switzerland, from July 29 to 31.
Fielding questions from journalists on arrival, Akpabio assured Nigerians of robust legislative engagements when the National Assembly reconvenes.
He also defended Nigeria’s strong representation at the International Parliamentary Union in Geneva, describing it as vital for deepening democratic governance.
“The people will see more dividends of democracy through effective collaboration with the executive and judiciary,” he said.
The Senate President’s return is expected to calm political speculations that trailed his absence from public engagements in recent weeks.
