Adamawa Denies Claims of Expired Flood Relief Food

The Adamawa State Government has refuted social media claims alleging that food distributed to flood victims in Yola South Local Government Area was expired.

Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, Celine Laori, in an interview on Sunday, described the report as “malicious” and “politically motivated,” accusing opposition elements of attempting to tarnish Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s administration.

She argued that the government has maintained inclusivity in appointments and projects across all 21 LGAs, yet “some people are still weeping political sentiments against a performing governor like Fintiri.”

Laori, a medical doctor, stressed that she could never sanction the distribution of unsafe food. “This is a government that has a special financial package for the victims of the flood in Yola South local government to alleviate their suffering, yet some people think their campaign of calumny can succeed,” she stated.

The distribution, which took place last Saturday at Mustapha College, saw Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta hand over food items to 4,000 households affected by last month’s flooding.

Farauta said the intervention aimed to help victims recover quickly and return to their livelihoods, assuring that the administration would continue its humanitarian efforts.
