Benue Governor Rewards Ordega with ₦50m, Apartment for WAFCON Triumph

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has honoured Super Falcons star, Francisca Mlumun Ordega (OON), with a ₦50 million cash gift and a fully furnished three-bedroom apartment in Makurdi, in recognition of her role in Nigeria’s historic victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The governor also named a street after the Benue-born forward, describing her as a “pride of the state and an inspiration to young people.”

Ordega was a key figure in the Super Falcons’ campaign at the 2024 WAFCON, where Nigeria clinched a record-extending 10th continental title.

The team reaffirmed their dominance in African women’s football by overcoming fierce competition to lift the trophy, further cementing their status as the most successful side in the tournament’s history.

The Benue governor’s gesture follows nationwide celebrations of the Falcons’ triumph, with Ordega singled out for her dedication, skill, and contributions both on and off the pitch.
