Zamfara: Military Air Component Eliminates Scores of Terrorists

The Air Component of the Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), achieved a significant operational triumph on Sunday, August 4, following precise strikes on terrorists who had assembled at the base of Asola Hills in Yankuzo Ward of Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State, for a matrimonial gathering.
This information was conveyed in a statement released by Captain David Adewusi, Media and Information Officer, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to journalists in Gusau, the state capital.
According to the statement, the strike was executed based on reliable intelligence, targeting a substantial congregation of terrorists from the Faskari and Kankara axis of Katsina State, as well as diverse regions of Zamfara State.
The operation culminated in the neutralization of numerous terrorists, with many others sustaining severe injuries. The injured were reportedly evacuated by their comrades to Yankuzo village for medical attention.
Troops of 1 Brigade under Sector 2 OPFY initiated a follow-up operation in the early hours of Monday, August 5, 2025, successfully navigating an ambush laid along the route to the village.
Locals and other credible sources from the region have corroborated that no fewer than 30 terrorists were neutralized during the aerial interdiction by the Air Component of OPFY and subsequent ground troop operations.
Furthermore, four terrorist collaborators from Kunchin Kalgo village in Tsafe Local Government Area sustained critical injuries.
The successful interdiction has brought considerable relief to the residents of Yankuzo, Tsafe, and adjoining communities, who have been subjected to recurrent terrorist harassment in recent times.
